    Avantages

(This is about Ageas holding in Brussels). The company had some change management -related tensions in the past following the transition from Fortis group to an independent insurance group. But these have been largely dealt with well what remains is a company with a good corporate culture, lots of diversity among staff, and mostly open communication by the management. With the company being able to increasingly... focus on its core business, and under capable management, the company has become more future-proof in spite of sometimes difficult market conditions in some countries. Also what see as a positive fact is that there is a lot of discussion between departments and with subsidiaries instead of the more centralised models that some competitors use. No employer is perfect but Ageas is certainly among the better ones.

    Dérouler

    Inconvénients

The decentralised model mentioned above also means less control over subsidiaries and longer time requirement for roll-outs as a result of more discussion (but that still is more positive than negative). Also, a rather flat hierarchy means less opportunity for functional promotions (but a lot of horizontal - knowledge - growth is still possible).

    Conseils à la direction

Keep it up, and keep fuelling the innovation projects!

    J'ai travaillé chez Ageas à

    Avantages

    - Competitive salary and excellent benefits with huge number of holidays - Strong interference/support of employee unions/council, thus management can't just do whatever they want (although 'ways-around' can always be created) - If you start - in most cases - you can easily complete your work life at at the age of 65 (is that's what you want)

    Inconvénients

    - Every little thing is structured, processed, controlled. No room for personal initiative. No risk taking. You spend your days in endless, stupid meetings. You'd die in tears if you are a performance and result oriented person. - It's not your competency or talents which count but they years of service within the bank. I mean it. So, if there is one job and 2 internal candidates (one of them a fully competent... person with perfect skills but in the company only for a few years and the other one less competent but in the company for 20 years) they go for the second one. - Nobody cares for competitiveness or hard working or efficiency. The whole system is based on risk-free, slow-motion culture. - No unity, no team feeling. Everybody walks around like a lonely fish in the ocean. - Full of incompetent people. Hundreds of them. But they stay because they are there in the last 20-30 years. Some even do not know how to write an email or use Excel, Word... - Only a few people at the top- CEO direct reports- know where they are going, the rest....either busy with preparing colourful presentations to cascade stories to their direct reports or at the coffee machine. Avoid ! ( if you are not only looking for a job but for a career)

    Dérouler

    Conseils à la direction

You hire competitive people and let them die in your organisation, because your working culture is not for performance, result oriented people. You must find ways to keep the spirit high or just hire average people with no ambition.

J'ai travaillé chez Ageas à temps plein plus d'un an

    Avantages

Ageas is one of the most professional places I worked at in IT. There is a clear structure between 1st line, 2nd line and 3rd line as well as the other development teams regarding the roles and responsibilities. There are a lot of progression opportunities if a person is willing to work hard and improve their knowledge. There is a good amount of work to do and the work is varied so it doesn't always feel like... you're just doing the same robotic tasks. Regular 1 to 1's allows for constant reviews and improvement. The 1st line manager, at least when I was there, was excellent at doing this and always asking what I wanted to learn or improve. Then setting up ways to implement this. For lunchtimes, there is an on-site canteen which has very good food for a very good price. There is also an Asda that is about a 5-minute walk away. I would recommend this job to someone to get short term IT experience here, but not as a long term job.

    Dérouler

    Inconvénients

Ageas pays less than most companies which means that there is big staff turnover.

    Conseils à la direction

Pay people the standard rate for the job people are doing to stop people from leaving. After all, it's cheaper to keep staff than to get new staff. Otherwise, the structure and planning is very good here.
