Application is decent, mostly entering details about education, experience, etc. Only answered one long question asking for a key moment which encouraged me to apply to BP. Just apply your 'moment' with the BP values and you should be fine. Got a telephone interview amount a month after submitting which was heavily competency based e.g. Do you think you are a good team player? Give an example of when you have dealt with an unexpected situation? The following week I was invited to a technical assessment at BP in London. The questions were quite unexpected for me - all based on case studies they give you during the interview. No need to prepare anything competency based. Make sure you know the BP values. Following day I was called and told I had been invited to assessment centre. Very quick turn around! I attended the AC where there were 8 candidates in total all applying to same role. We were split into 2 groups of 4 before beginning the first group exercise. Simple case study which you had to discuss to form a solution. After that was the individual exercise. They give you 45 minutes to prepare alone and present for 10 minutes in front of 1 recruiter, followed by answering questions for 15 minutes about your presentation. We then got lunch. After lunch, we were back in our split groups and completed the second task. This was much more tough than the previous 2 tasks and I personally believe it required outside knowledge of the area you have applied for, even though BP tell you that you don't need to prepare. To be honest, the people in my group were quite overpowering and were having a bit of a power struggle amongst themselves. They all seemed to be experienced aswell in the world of work, having completed a couple of years of work or placement years. Perhaps this is where I fell short. Got contacted the next day to find out I had been rejected because 'other candidates were stronger' which was quite disappointing but that's life I guess. Good luck to those applying!
