Three stage interview process, initial screening with HR (30 mins), Project Management competency (1 hour), Presentation High level management (1 Hour).
Interviews needlessly spread over more than 2 months, culminating in a generic public sector project presentation requiring ~30 hours of prep. I stuck at it because the company and the work seemed interesting.
During the presentation the interviewers seemed distracted and disinterested. I found out the reason why shortly afterwards as 3 days after my presentation Boxxe informed me that they'd decided they were not actually hiring a Project Manager after all. The excuses and apologies offered were feeble at best, no acknowledgement of the time invested or the opportunity cost of this, the feedback received was generic and ultimately useless.
"We could put you in front of a customer tomorrow" means very little from a company who aren't organised enough to actually decide if they want to recruit for a role, especially after upwards of 40 hours investment for the entire interview process. I understand that there were three other candidates at this final stage, if they all invested the same energy that I did, this is 120 hours of wasted effort on needless presentations alone.
Don't waste your time, go and apply for a better company.
