It started great. A recruiter reached out to me on another social networking platform. We set up a call, had a great walk through my resume and i seemed like a good fit with the industry knowledge and experience seeming to be just what they are looking for.
Then second interview was with a hiring manager engaged directly in technology and that was a complete 360.
The guy was late for the interview, over 20 mins. Good thing he sent a message couple minutes before the interview that he would be late.
So that was the first red flag…
Then once he got on a call, he would constantly interrupt, sounded uninterested, disregarding what I’d be saying… then he used a very common technique I’ve noticed that some interviewers do:
He hung onto that the job i was interviewing for wouldn’t have any direct reports inline what i currently have. I told him this is not an issue for me.
And the second thing was - my unfinished degree. This is one of the favorites for some - they love using that when they have no other reason to dismiss me and belittle.
With more than 10 years of professional experience in aviation and IT industry - getting degree is not something that would make much sense. I got much more worthy certifications on business analysis and product management instead that help me to my job…
But overall, i felt like i had to shower after that interview with their VP. And to be honest, i wouldn’t want to work for a person who behaves like that so i think he might have done me a favor anyway.
