SA is involved in a day to day specific operational tasks and caters to needs of a system or an application, and its users. BA on the other hand is more technical and after new business requirements and refinements on a bigger scale.

A technical business analyst has a greater understanding of the business and also has acquired knowledge of the technical aspects of the business and the system. A systems analyst is more an expert on the systems such as database systems or software used in the organization and can be an advocate for the same.
