      They automated the HR screen (which is the first step in the interview process). Rather than getting on a call with an HR rep, it was a video interview where you'd record a video of yourself giving your answers. IMO video recordings for an initial screen are inconsiderate- if you're asking the candidate to put in time, you should be putting in time too. Interviews are meant to be two way conversations and there's no way for candidates to ask questions with this system. The software they used for this also had some ads for United which were a bit sales-y (employers that value their employees don't normally need to market that way). Overall I felt it was all a yellow flag but not bad enough to make me consider withdrawing. One upside for the candidate in this system is that you have some time to rehearse your question answer before hitting the "record" button. Next steps involved a take home. They sent a technical assignment to complete and make a presentation for. They also asked for a presentation on a past project. I gave both these presentations in the next interview (done via video due to covid) and was asked standard interview questions as well. No flags here at all and the hiring manager seemed very decent. The main reason why I rated the experience as negative was that they ghosted me. Needless to say, not getting back to a candidate after the final interview (not to mention after having them develop two presentations for you) is horribly disrespectful. I did follow up at one point but didn't receive a response. The company only seems to treat candidates well when it's in their self interest.
