I applied online to the USPS jobs website. I also had to take a Postal Mail Exam at one of the locations in a nearby city. Then I was called in to a "pre-interview". This was in a group setting with other candidates and they did less interviewing of us and more just telling us what the jobs were like. People who had applied to different jobs all ended up in the same interview room. After the pre-interview, we were individually asked to go to another area and sit at a desk with someone. This person asked me some basic questions about my schooling, some info about myself, etc. I felt like it was more just to get a feel of who I was and make sure I wasn't a delinquent. My interviewer was nice and courteous. People who passed this stage had to undergo a full background check because the USPS is a federal organization/company as well as drug testing.
