      Entretien

      The recruitment lead was very nice, positive and polite. Gave me a call every step of the way. Accommodating to my needs for a virtual interview. First interview was a 121 with the hiring manager. It went well and felt like the role was a very good match for my skillset -focus on processes alignment and optimisation. Second interview with the same manager and the recruitment lead, where I had a task to calculate revenue, margin and offer a strategy for optimisation. I have prepared plenty ideas to present but all went downhill as I had made a mistake in one of my calculations. Not the end of the world and I apologised , but the manager insisted I re-calculate whilst sharing my screen which triggered an anxiety attack (they had no way of knowing of course as I tried to conceal it and said I was just nervous when I felt like I was going to suffocate) it was very difficult for me to concentrate but in the end I did manage to get out of the brain fog and get it done, but we have spent so long on this and it felt like torture to me. The manager said he read my ideas on the screen so I just summarised and that was about it. I knew I didn’t do well but felt that the job is not for me anyways as I focus on processes and supporting people optimise their work rather than working with numbers. Nonetheless I have accepted an offer from a different company where their idea of business transformation aligned better with my ability and they have found someone else. However, I would like to advise the managers when interviewing in the future to allow a person to maybe move on to the next topic if they tell you they feel too nervous to think or at least to say something human to calm someone down. These days stress, panic and anxiety are quite common and even if you are great at something you can fail if you feel pushed to the corner. This is just friendly advice. All in all the recruitment process was not too complex and I hope they have found the right person.
