A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn. I replied saying that I would be interested in hearing more about the role. She asked for my updated resume, which I provided. We then scheduled a call to which she invited a technical recruiter on their team. On the call with both of them, the technical recruiter asked about my recent experience working for myself, tech stack etc. I've been working for myself the last 4 years, trading and building software around it as well as the blockchain space. This all was outlined on my resume. He then said that they wouldn't consider for this role anybody who's not been working 'professionally' for 4 years (what does that even mean?). I then asked him, why we were even on the call if they already had seen my resume? He was very apologetic, and that was the only positive thing about this call.
