Let me just start off by saying that this was my very first job interview for my first job ever so the questions they asked/amount of difficulty might differ to others just because I don't have any work experience.
I applied online and within 2 or so days, I got an email saying "We have reviewed your qualifications and would like to move forward with gathering some additional information regarding your application and candidacy." They continued to tell me the next step was setting up a phone interview with their hiring team and if I would like to pursue the job, to call within 48 hours of receiving said email. Now let me just say that I'm the absolute worst when it comes to confrontation of any kind so all morning, I was shaking with nerves to prepare for this "brief phone interview." I called and the lady on the phone wasn't very enthusiastic, all she did was confirm the job I was looking to pursue, read me the description, asked me a few interview style questions (these included "what are you like, describe your strengths", "why would you prefer to work for QFC?" and "describe a time you faced a certain difficulty and overcame it." These may be different for others if you have work experience. Anyway, I stumbled so much and actually thought I made a complete fool of myself but she surprisingly set up an interview for two days later at my local QFC. Great!
Two days later arrive and I'm sweating everywhere with nerves. I practiced the best I could with every sort of interview question but still felt like I was going to screw it up. I walked into QFC, asked an employee where I was supposed to go and she gave me directions to the break room where I waited for further instruction. About 3 minutes later, my interviewer, Eric, called me into an office where we introduced ourselves and we started going over a few things. He read off of a questionnaire that he filled out as he asked questions and it was super chill. He did ask me some questions that I wasn't necessarily prepared for but they weren't difficult, it was something I could quickly think of an answer to, and if not, he said I didn't have to answer it. He kept making small talk throughout to help me calm down, explained things to me about the job I didn't read online, and even asked if I was nervous and told me not to worry. (Most of the questions he asked me are down below but keep in mind, I had no questions regarding work experience because I don't have any). Towards the end of the interview, he told me he'd contact me back at the latest by the start of next week (the interview was on a Thursday). I thanked him and was on my way home. I arrived at 1:45 (they tell you to come 15 mins early) and was out the door by 2:15-2:20. Interview only took about 20 mins but felt faster.
Two days later, I received an email from QFC telling me that they're very grateful I applied but they've decided to pursue other applicants. This kind of hurt, just because I've been looking to get a job for months but you got to do what you got to do. I'll keep looking around, it isn't the end of the world.
