Initial communication was through an internal application placed on my behalf by a friend who worked at the studio. I had applied for a role on one of their teams for an NDA project in early stage of recruitment.
I was contacted by the head of recruitment to organise a Skype interview with the Lead Engineer. This interview was an introductory chat designed to get a feel for me as a person and go over my history and CV.
Following on from this chat I had a technical test, again over Skype, where I was directed to an online IDE to carry out a number of code tasks within a short time period. The interviewer allowed me to switch off my camera but was able to see everything I entered within the IDE. Upon completion we had a follow up chat where he asked me some technical aspects regarding the test I had completed before concluding the interview.
I received a follow up communication informing me that whilst they didn't think I had what they needed for the team I applied for, they felt I would fit nicely with their other team working on the studio's more established IP. I had an interview over Skype with the Lead Engineer on that project that played out much the same as my intial interview.
The final stage of the process I was invited down for a 3 hour interview at the studio. This interview consisted of several stages
- Chat with recruitment about "Life at PG"
- Chat with Lead and Chief Engineer
- Whiteboard test of code design
- Code review test with sample code
- Taken to lunch by the Engineers
- Chat with Technical Director
