Contacted directly by the hiring manager. The phone interview lasted about 40 mins, where the manager introduced the job to me and asked about my background and skills, and why I considered entering the financial industry. I was brought on-site in the following week.The on-site interview lasted for a whole day and I met everyone of the team that is hiring and managers from other teams as well.

I was asked to talk about my research projects in previous jobs. A lot fit questions. Some technical questions about EXCEL! Some common brain teasers.
Communication skills are particularly valued! The interviewers would evaluate your ability to communicate technical ideas by asking you to explain your project and trying to make sense out of your explanation.

HR phone screen. Never heard back and HR didn't bother replying to a follow up. If a candidate goes to the trouble of asking for a status update, the least you can do is send your already written rejection email template.
