Interview was fairly informal. Interviewer was unable to answer questions about basic aspects of the company, such as what opportunities for advancement at the company look like, etc. When I asked if the interviewer wished for me to clarify anything I had said or that was on my resume, I was told no and that "everything sounded perfect," followed by being told I should have my second interview by the end of the week. The interviewer also told me the full name of the person I would be meeting with later in the week, making me fully believe that I was advancing to the second round of interviews.
After sending a follow-up email post-interview to thank them for their time and to express continued interest in the position, I was told that they had decided to move in a different direction, much to my confusion, since I was not even contacted to schedule a secondary interview.
Overall, I am disappointed that I was led to believe I had done well and had a good shot at the position, especially in today's job market. This was an unsatisfactory experience, and I believe interviewers should not be falsely getting people's hopes up.
