I would have in place rules of the classroom or a classroom contract that each student would have given their input on agreed to and then signed. If the rules/contract are being broken repeatedly or if a student is acting out I would address the behavior right away in a private way. I like to ask students why they are doing the behavior? How is it affecting his friends? What can he or she do instead?
