I believe Patience and attentive listening would be the key Once the speaker feels heard it would be a lot more easier to handle a difficult situation address their problem and give a suitable response regarding their issue Mostly a client becomes difficult when they are not provided with what they were promised or what they expected Which can be settled with the right approach
