I worked with Social Services to write out a Cost of Extended Stay. Within that we showed the Medicare criteria for Medicare payment of Current Diagnosis, Date of Resolution of Illness, Any Current Medicare Diagnosis Requiring Hospital Care , Any Current Diagnosis that can be treated as an Outpatient, and Any Diagnosis No Longer Requiring Treatment at this time. And a chart was created to show how much patient would pay (100%) per day to remain in hospital if he chose to remain in hospital. And the deposit that would be required. Patient opted for discharge to home with a home health care assessment.
