Positive experience, applied online and within a few days got called in to the assessment centre. At the start we had to fill in a form about our availability, career goals etc then got put into equal teams. We then had to write the 5 main roles of a sales assistant and present them to the group. The assessors were taking notes throughout. We then got divided into different teams and taken to different departments. Individually we were given a brief for a customer looking for an outfit and told to go around the store and pick out what we would choose. Was fairly easy. Then we got taken back upstairs to the staff room and given different scenarios and had to discuss them as a group, things we would encounter whilst working here. For example one scenario was if a customer wanted to keep the hangers but youve been told during training that we reuse them, how would you handle it. It was more of a conversation as the assessors were adding factors on, for example the customer was getting angry as they had spent over £200. Was a very friendly casual atmosphere.
Dress was casual, most were wearing trainers definitely not a formal assessment. There were no one on one interviews, after the last activity we were told we could leave.
Within 2 hours of leaving I received a phone call saying I got the job, overall a very pleasant, easy going assessment and would have no problem doing it again.
group interview, people were friendly and they asked a lot of general questions. then we all went to the shop floor, got assigned a certain outfit to make for a hypothetical customer and explained in front of the group why we chose it

I applied online, interview at the store. Casual talk with the store manager about the experiences and how the store works. It was pretty straight forward even without any experiences.
Group interview. 10 candidates in a small dingy room. Poorly organised and interviewers showed very little interest or skill in conducting an effective interview. Were in pairs for the whole thing, no way to stand out and other people taking credit for your ideas. No observation of how you handled planning and answering the tasks in your pairs, interviewers just sat there having a chat.
