Met with direct report and HR. Great interview, resounded with them and their core values. Felt positive.
Went through to the second round, psychometric testing.
I would describe the testing as extremely rigorous.
2 hours of advanced math, literacy and problem solving - timed, for added pressure. Plus the usual personality questions.
Was rung by a psychometric testing company rep who ran me through my results. Overall, I was quite considered in my problem solving and excellent with managing people, but possibly pointed to the fact that I wasn't so good under pressure. Maybe it was that countdown clock ticking away in the top right of the browser that shook me.
Felt like the psychometric test was the deciding factor for awarding the role.
The one thing psychometric testing can never demonstrate is how good a person's ability is to learn and adapt to a new role, and apply all their industry experience to a different working environment.
At peace with the fact I didn't get this one - and kind of relieved.
