HR screen where salary expectations are discussed. Interview with Dev manager. Coding challenge. Technical interview. Interview with CTO.
One to two weeks between each stage. Interviewers all seemed nice and received very positive feedback. But things didn’t go well from there.
Low-ball offer. Offer bumped, but max out far below stated expectations and comparable salaries in USA. Terms were most unbalanced in favour of employer. Some examples 3x Longer notice period. Remote role privacy concerns over trust: Camera recording in own home and location tracking. Reference checks aren’t started until after candidate locks in a short commencement date effectively meaning the candidates must resign from current role to begin notice period when the contract is yet to go unconditional. Expansive restriction of trade conditions - likely fully unenforceable but are cascading. Timezone differences cause delays in getting responses.
