Multilevel interview process, which served both the company and the applicant well. Interviewed with department head, manager of department for which I was hired, potential peers in department, HR, support staff (analysts). Several interviews on different days, and one long day with 4 interviews, back to back.
It was helpful in that there was a good flow of information going in both directions. I was able to get a sense of the personality of the department, and understand its philosophy regarding "getting the deal."
