      Candidature

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé un entretien chez Cargill en sept. 2021

      Entretien

I applied for a position at Cargill in the summer of 2021. I wasn’t eagerly looking for a new job, but I saw the posting and thought it seemed like an interesting opportunity. Knowing someone who worked at Cargill and spoke highly of them, I reached out and they were happy to refer me. A recruiter called me a few days after I applied and we had a really nice conversation about the position. They let me know they would share the feedback with the hiring manager and I should hear back soon. A few days later, I received a call from another recruiter looking to set up a formal interview. Unfortunately, the interview would have to be a month out. I wrote it off as busy times due to the pandemic. Since I was just beginning my search, I didn’t really mind. A month later, I had the interview. The questions were pretty informal and the discussion was comfortable. Some questions had to do with the role while others were more global perception and overall friendly back and forth. I enjoyed the conversation a lot and left intrigued by the opportunity. Salary didn’t come up, but the hiring manager mentioned there was another round of interviews so I figured there would be a chance to discuss then. The next week, I received notice I would need to complete a few assessments. One was an hour and fifteen minutes, and the additional was a scenario assessment that was projected to take 30 minutes to an hour. I set aside time and completed the assessments. After submitting the assessments and letting the recruiter know I looked forward to hearing from them, I simply never heard back. I figured after taking the time to complete the assessment and two forty-five minutes interviews that they would at least let me know if they had gone another direction, so hearing nothing was disappointing . The job remained promoted on LinkedIn and I ended up getting a role better suited for me at another company just weeks after the process with Cargill. About two months later, a recruiter reached out asking if I’d be interested in a similar role that had opened up at Cargill and stated they had heard good feedback from my previous process. I kindly stated I had accepted a new offer, but was disappointed to have never heard back from anyone on the previous interview process. I wished them the best in finding their next candidate. I never received a response. Overall, the process as a whole showed me Cargill wasn’t a good fit for what I was looking for so it was for the best in the end. A pandemic can be chaotic, so I left giving them the benefit of the doubt. But it was a disappointing experience I hope they improve for other candidates who give their time to apply and go through the process. It’s a two way street.

      Question 1

Provide an example of a time you had to lead a project from start to finish. Whats one of the most unique, enjoyable projects you’ve worked on where you made a seemingly boring subject more interesting? How do you approach diversity?
