      Entretien

Their interview process is the most difficult and time-intensive of all interviews I've ever been involved with, and I go through them on a regular basis. First, you start off by submitting your resume and cover letter, all the normal items. Within their job description, they do warn you about the crazy interview process, and that it involves a lot of content you need to create and many skill tests and steps. They mention that that's how they make sure their team is made up of the most proficient professionals. They make them take difficult skills tests. And this must be true. Then, they send an automated email and ask you to do 2 things: 1) Take a timed skills test and 2) Record a 3-5 minute video. The video should have you talking about yourself and how your experience prepared you for the role and what you learned about CT. "Questionnaire: 20-40 minutes; Video Interview (video camera needed): 10-20 minutes The skills test will take approximately 60 minutes." The SEO Project Manager skills test/questionnaire was actually 2 things: one project management test and a very hands-on real-world SEO task that took a long time to overcome. The project manager test was a questionnaire, and I don't remember it much anymore. Then, for the SEO skills test, they gave me an actual E-Commerce website and asked to do an SEO audit and list 10 things in order of importance that it needs to fix it. After 2 weeks, I received an invitation for an interview. At the end of the interview, the recruiter told me I did well on the project management test, but didn't do that well on the SEO technique test (the one where I had to inspect an actual live website and give 10 suggestions to fix it). The recruiter then went on that I need to take another skills test - a writing test which is very important in this role, because project managers are sometimes client-facing, and will need to speak to clients on occasion. Then, she said that if I REALLY wanted to impress them, and if I have the time for it, then I can take 2 more skills tests. These are OPTIONAL TESTS, but the writing test is mandatory. So far, we have a video you must record, an interview, and 3 mandatory skills tests (two techniques pertaining to the role and one writing test). She emailed me the writing test, and also 1) PPC Specialist Test and 2) Social Media Test (Optional, it said)... The writing test was mandatory. It was a scenario of a client that wanted to leave the services, and they didn't pay their last 2 invoices and their card was declined. You're supposed to email the CFO and maintain a good relationship, explain why they need the services, because they've been getting good results, and yet they got mad and wanted to quit the services. So you're supposed to calmly handle that, and they see how your grammar and English language skills levels are, and how you handle sensitive situations and clients. The PPC test was difficult. They give you a scenario with a budget and ask to write out a WHOLE PPC strategy! It's insane, but wait - there's MORE! Then... they give you 2 optional scenarios to answer (but strongly suggest you answer them even though they are optional..) These 2 scenarios involve social media paid advertising, and you need to create a strategy for those. Then, I went on to take the Social media test. That one was one question. They went back to that E-Commerce website that I had to audit for SEO and asked to create a social media strategy for them. My feedback is that these tests are all really long, and time-consuming. But the truth is, the people who wrote these tests were lazy and didn't even think of guiding the candidates. Honestly, it's pretty insulting that they ask you to spend all this time on these skills tests to impress them, and the only question is something along the lines of "Company X has a budget of $5000 per month. They want to increase revenue (*well duh, they want to increase revenue....*) Write a PPC strategy for them." What in the world? You didn't ask any specific questions, you didn't really give much information. You just give a budget and say that they want to make money from their ads - Here, go write a detailed strategy for them. It's ridiculous, actually. At least have someone on your team spend more than 2 minutes writing the questions, and direct the candidates. I don't like these generalized queries which give no reference and make you do all the work AND also having to guess what they're looking for in the answer. Either way, I passed amazingly! They warned me that it takes sometimes up to a month for them to get back to you. However, I was given an offer THE NEXT DAY! This means I did really well on the skill tests, and also I believe even if I didn't do so well, they were impressed that I took those optional skill tests. So, here is advice for you: If you really want to work here, make sure to take all the skills tests. And if they don't give you extra tests, ask for them yourself.
