Interviewers need to understand that they represent the company and its culture. If you make the candidate feel disrespected you won’t hire good people in today’s market. Bold Penguin should seriously train some of their employees before put them out there to interview people.

Question 1
All questions were about very specific problems they are working on instead of the candidate’s critical thinking capability. Good luck finding the right person. Or, find someone who happens to know the answer to the problems and fire them because apparently how you approach a problem does not matter.

Process and communication was very disorganized. It took a long time between rounds for any response and talent manager didn’t seem at all knowledgeable about basic information regarding the role or process. Hiring manager did not seem interested in hearing how I would solve a problem as much as getting me to agree with his approach. Sounded like engineers had to change priorities frequently. That is expected at a startup to a degree but this sounded like their norm.

Their hiring manager missed one meeting completely, and had to be prompted to reschedule and was generally inattentive the whole time. Was turned down with no feedback after an extremely superficial conversation with one of their lead developers that somehow managed to determine my tech ability without actually checking it. Pass on this place.
