I was contacted to ask for my availability for a face to face interview some 100 miles away from my home. I duly gave the recruiter a date and time that I was able to get away from my current role to attend. recruiter replied to confirm he would get that pencilled in, then proceeded to book me in the day before. I was subsequently a day late having taken a morning off work and made the journey from Newcastle to leeds. I was turned away from the building and had to make the 100 mile trip back home. Recruiter offered no apology for accountability for the mistake and hiring manager subsequently refused to reschedule. For an HR function it doesn’t bode well around organisation, flexibility or accountability for mistakes if that’s the first impression you give externally. Poor culture and attitude to candidates - thinks it’s bigger than it is.
