Avantages
Good atmosphere overall and genuinely talented colleagues. Some interesting projects. There is actually a lot to learn, and you will pick up solid knowledge if you are patient. Job security is real and the pay is decent.
Inconvénients
The company is a legal monopoly, which means there is no real pressure to improve or change. That shows in the culture. A lot of people are coasting, and it feels like roughly half the workforce is carrying the other half. Unions are very powerful, which makes it hard to address performance issues or push for real change. Processes are everywhere and slow everything down. If you have read The Phoenix Project, you will recognize the environment immediately. Accountability is blurry and decisions take forever. There is a significant disconnection between upper management, middle management and the people doing the actual work. Decisions made at the top rarely reflect the reality on the ground, and middle management often acts as a buffer rather than a bridge. Management styles can be inconsistent and hard to predict. Unprofessional conduct was present in some teams and was not addressed by the organization. Some people are aware of the dysfunction but say nothing. The job security and comfort make it easy to look the other way. For driven people who want to move fast, this place can feel suffocating. If you are here to learn and are comfortable with a slow pace, you may get something out of it.
