I first joined in 2022 as a camp counselor, and I’ve returned every year since then. EFBA allows us to fully express ourselves through our work, creating an environment where individuality is valued. As a counselor, I’ve had the chance to develop a broad set of skills and expand my knowledge in ways I never expected. Over the years, I was promoted to new roles, including Lead Camp Counselor and Community Coordinator, which helped me continue growing and developing my skills. I had the opportunity to train new team members and instill my core values in the work environment. I also had a lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of children, inspiring them to develop a love for learning a new language. EFBA has consistently supported me, whether I encountered administrative or logistical challenges. They were there from the very beginning, helping with visa applications, securing accommodation, and setting up a bank account. Throughout the summer, they assisted with managing payslips and connecting with other staff members. Even after the job ended, they continued to provide help with taxes and other post-employment matters. This level of support was made possible thanks to the outstanding work of the Cultural and Camp Programs Director at the time. I could not be more grateful to EFBA for allowing me to be myself at work and for helping me discover what California has to offer.
