Avantages

Workplace was not toxic, at least for my team. There was great camaraderie ...until they laid off so many of our new friends. The management is making their best good-faith effort. One team has a manager that knows the work and participates just like one of the workers. Flying us all to San Diego for a retreat was a fun experience, but are there better ways for a start up to spend it's money?

Inconvénients

In 2023 all the employees were flown to a retreat in San Diego. We got to meet all the department heads and hear how they ran their department. Grand plans were outlined for the next year. They even hired a dedicated recruiter... ...First work day of 2024 they laid off a large chunk of the employees. This included some of those department heads and a few people who had barely been with the company for 2 months, --including that poor recruiter. (this tells me it was an "emergency" layoff, not a planned thought-out one.) ...In March there were more layoffs, again including at least one person who'd only been with the company a couple of months. (so again an "emergency" layoff) ...Later that same month, two departments were put on a 4-day work week, with a reduction in their pay accordingly. In other words, the cons is that Sr. management isn't that good at the actual "running the company" part. I do not recommend anyone allow the current CEO to become part of their chain of command.

Avantages

Good benefits, flexible schedule, fun team.

Inconvénients

Focus is too broad, and it leaves a lot of projects in the air. Often spent time focusing on a new big focus, to have it scraped and the time wasted.

Avantages

Strong compensation and good benefits.

Inconvénients

Leadership frequently shifts direction without clear strategic alignment, creating rework and internal churn. A significant amount of time is spent on presentations and optics rather than execution. Teams are under-resourced, and while overtime is not formally required, expectations make it effectively unavoidable. Stated commitments to work-life balance are not matched by operational support. The CEO has been an advocate for AI as a near-term replacement for support functions, including areas where it is not yet a practical substitute. This has introduced uncertainty across already stretched teams. Despite substantial VC funding, investment in core infrastructure and operational systems appears misaligned. The required proprietary software is below industry standard and adds inefficiency to essential workflows.
