      Avantages

      Brilliant people, amazing offices (before COVID), good compensation. I joined the company when it still had only 2k employees and felt indeed like a rocket ship launching into space. This job definitely changed my life to the better.

      Inconvénients

      Going remote changed the vibe of the company and it wasn't my cup of tea.

      Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

      Inconvénients

      Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

      Avantages

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Inconvénients

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
