Avantages
I had the opportunity to learn from several brilliant coworkers and gain knowledge and experience across several industries while I worked here. My peers were always willing to provide guidance if needed. The money was also decent but ultimately not worth the headache of dealing with management.
Inconvénients
The Lab’s days as a resource to Fortune 500 companies is a thing of the past and comments made by several members of management indicate that the company is currently losing money on a regular basis. Management provides very little in the way of coaching/guidance or supporting company culture. The lack of any sustained company growth is a testament to the fact that the directors, while holding a senior management title, lack actual management training and experience. Instead, you will see behavior including but not limited to: belittling employees, promising clients unreasonable solutions based on work in which they have virtually no understanding of the technical means required to complete it, and wasting time bad-mouthing successful consulting firms online. The best advice I can provide is get in at as high of a salary as possible (seriously, if you have a pulse, can talk to people, and possess even the slightest bit of tech knowledge, they’ll pay you 6 figures), make some decent money, and get out at the next available opportunity.
