Avantages

Do workers were great. The kids and families were good. That is about it.

Inconvénients

I was hired for 40 hours... I never worked a forty hour week. Hours are so inconsistent. I was told that if a kid cancels they always try to find a way to make up the hours and that the employees rarely lose hours. The truth is they rarely try to find a way to make up those hours; typically you are just out those hours. Also, they do close for some holidays but you are not paid for the hours you would have worked. I would rather make money then be forced to not work those hours. I was also told that management really cares... they don’t. They care about making money and nothing else. They will even lie to thier clients and say that a session has to be 2 hours long or it has to be canceled. The real reason we have to cancel is because we can’t bill their insurance if it’s less than 2 hours and then the company will have to pay the bt themselves. I only had one meeting with my lead the entire time I was their. There is no room to grow unless you want to become a lead. They would also just remove you from a child’s case with no warning, meaning you lose hours out of no where. The communication is also lacking, I once drove to a child’s daycare to find out that they he was on vacation... we were told a week before. They will use the kids against you and say that you can’t leave because of the kids. At the end, the kids don’t pay my bills. This is by far the worst, most unethical place I have worked for.

Avantages

The kids and families are great. I can see that my work makes a difference. When I started working at IDS, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do long term but I've now decided to go to graduate school and become a BCBA. My co-workers are great too.

Inconvénients

Sometimes the hours are hard just because I only get paid for hours I work. If a kid cancels and I'm not put in a sub session or set to overlap, I lose that time. Supervisors try to schedule make up hours but it doesn't always work. This isn't a problem unique to IDS. My friends at other companies have the same problem.

Avantages

Great work opportunities if you're a college student. The work is fun and rewarding. Schedule is very flexible, you can work as little as 6 hours a week (starting out they probably won't give you more than 20 hours, though). Decent hourly pay, considering state minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

Inconvénients

Hours are inconsistent because clients can cancel at any time, so pay is inconsistent. Sometimes I would go weeks without ever having to go to the clinic because they didn't have anyone for me to work with. The training is just an online course you take followed by shadowing employees in sessions. I didn't feel prepared going into my first few sessions. If you need help or there is some kind of emergency, Seniors aren't always available to help, or even nearby. Still, they expect you to contact them as soon as situations like that come up, but you may still get in trouble for not contacting a Senior even if there was no support staff available. Even if you try to explain your side of the story, some of the staff can be a little dismissive or patronizing. You are required to give one month - four week's notice - in advance if you want time off.
