Avantages

The diversity and challenges associated with providing end to end solutions to clients. Direct interaction with end clients. Lot of large IT consulting firms rely on their international partners for front ending and rely on Indian skills to reduce costs. This is not truly globalised. Infosys offers true globalisation to its employees. I have had the opportunity to work with people from multiple nationalities on my assignments. The wealth of domain exposure and cultural exposure is second to none. The focus on execution is tremendous. Some of the most dedicated and client focussed people I know work for Infosys. There is a lot of analyst noise about thought leadership or the lack thereof, but Infosys specialises in making their clients feel good about themselves. People look at it as their duty and appreciate the true meaning of customer service.

Inconvénients

Large organization and risk averse nature of senior management. Lot of senior managers have made fortunes using stock options, so are not motivated to either perform or quit. This has lead to middle senior management layer of people who are not exposed to multiple situations. Infosys does not actively rotate job responsibilities at it senior execution level. Rotating jobs between board members is not enough. Anyone who is groomed as a manager must be perforce exposed to different units, different clients and situations. The breadth and cultural openness that comes from such diverse experience is sorely missing.
