Avantages
The people who work there care about the product and it’s a collaborative environment from a day to day project standpoint. Codecademy leadership are great people and they are doing all they can to protect their teams but they are being blindsided and handcuffed by Skillsoft leadership decisions.
Inconvénients
Codecademy today is not what it was pre acquisition. After Skillsoft took over, all perks got taken away. There’s been round after round of layoffs that have been communicated so poorly that sometimes we didn’t even know if it was the same round or a new round. Skillsoft would announce changes at a town hall that Codecademy leadership couldn’t answer questions about bc it was the first time they were hearing about it too. Codecademy used to be a fast paced, tech start up culture with great pay, good perks, fun culture, reviews 2x per year (with the possibility of merit increase / promotion). Now morale is very low after multiple layoffs and restructures. Merit increases and promotions seem frozen indefinitely. There are ppl there who haven’t gotten a single increase or bonus or promotion in 3 years despite being top performers, all because Skillsoft is cutting left and right. All that’s left is a skeletal team who probably would have left if the market was better.
