Professional workplace to address social change - Avis employé Employé (anonyme) CSH

One of the things I value most about working at CSH as a Senior Program Manager is the opportunity to combine my passion for housing and behavioral health with meaningful systems-change work. The organization's collaborative culture, commitment to innovation, and focus on creating lasting community impact make it a rewarding place to grow professionally while helping improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.

While the role presents challenges such as managing multiple priorities, navigating complex systems, and balancing strategic leadership with administrative responsibilities, these challenges also provide opportunities to develop strong leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills while contributing to meaningful social impact.

Since my last day in Feb 2024, I have tired to think of things I valued about this organization and unfortunately, I have nothing great to say

I worked on both a regional team and on the federal team. Both experiences were terrible. People leave this organization for many reasons but I noticed how many are fed up of the change talk that goes around in circles. It’s a lot of white people talking about how to treat people from marginalized groups…. so they perform diversity hires so that “everyone” can be a part of the conversation but then they drain those people who perform so much emotional labor but wont implement their ideas. I think that speaks volumes itself but I also have questions and doubts about so many other aspects. Some examples being, how nobody could ever describe what federal technical assistance actually is- yet they provide it!? The organization has clear divisions and works rather divinely across race, class and gender and there is no feeling of true unity or belonging.
