Avantages
I have worked at multiple startups before. I applied for AskforTask as my cousin regularly uses the service and suggested some feedback on the app. I personally tried it and decided to send feedback to the company along with my resume without any expectations. They responded to me quickly and set me up for an interview as they were actively hiring. I went through a rigorous process and was offered the job. I wasn't really looking to make a move but loved the story and founders and decided to join. The clarity on expectations and initial training was pretty intense for the first 90 days. This is highly organized and methodical which allows any new team member to self-guide as well as gives opportunities to connect with key team members for collaboration. This is especially great with remote onboarding right now due to the new reality we live in.
Inconvénients
As the onboarding is self-led, there is a risk of being 'alone' a lot as you start. You also have to figure out a lot of things yourself. This could be amazing for someone who likes to have autonomy but for some, it could be a bit overwhelming. It's important to be a self-starter and reach out to the team and the leadership as they are always proactively helping out.
