Avantages

Different food options within 15 minutes and smaller committees making changes for it to be bearable for 20 minutes.

Inconvénients

1) LACK OF HYGIENE: No hand soap, no feminine hygiene products, no trash bags, no paper towels, terrible smells in walkways, managers forcing folks in office even when showing symptoms of illness because CEO wants people in office. 2) POOR QUALITY OF LIFE: Temp isn't regulated causing people to roam to other departments from the cold/heat, office ettiquette around food smells not upheld (fish smell in different floors/buildings). The fridges aren't being cleaned out on a weekly basis; I've forgotten my lunch before and go back to the fridge 3 weeks later for it to still be there. Basic kitchen items such as coffee cups and plastic silverware are deemed too expensive to maintain. Benefits have been getting worse since coming here. 3) UNCOMFORTABLE WORKSPACE: Lack of any natural light, fake push for collaboration (CEO wants you in office). There are decades of inter-group politics creating friction for new and long-term employees, A lot of folks are there from when AFS was founded. Individuals will loudly confront their peers in the middle of the work day at their desk. 4) MANDATORY IN OFFICE: Meetings are still being held over Teams as folks don't want to leave their desks. The town hall was on a mandatory in office day and that was held over Teams instead of fitting who they could into the Auditorium. 5) UPPER MANAGEMENT: Poor upper management who couldn't properly migrate HR systems causing PTO to be incorrect, reviews delayed, and direct deposits missed. A lot of upper management have the "stick to your lane" mentality causing silos and difficulty communicating across departments. More folks who argue against training others because of job security then complain about not having time to perform work, having to attend all meetings, and working0 while on PTO. CEO plans 15 minutes of content for a hour long Town Hall. Items they brought up to fill the 15 minutes were "business plan is to get more money" with no explanation of how, and "more collaboration" with mandatory 3 days a week in office but won't go in person for Town Hall meetings. 6) TECHNICAL INNOVATION: At the mercy of directors and executives ego. Many ideas for automation and process improvement have been denied at first but then approved after a different person presented. 7) POOR KNOWLEDGE: Poor knowledge of the most basic corporate application Microsoft Office Suite; many folks don't know how to filter an excel data sheet, open links in Teams, or that there is a connection between Sharepoint and Teams. Documentation is severely lacking across departments for training and more detail explanations, going back to individuals gate keeping for 'job security'.

It’s a paycheck close to home.

Inconvénients

Current President has run the company into the ground. He has had two rounds of layoffs since he took over five years ago. New clients sign and then back out of the contracts. He does not engage with employees. Spends most of his time in his office. No ability to inspire employee productivity. After the most recent round of layoffs in January, he could not look into the camera on the follow up town hall meeting and was not convincing in stating the company was still in good shape financially. Culture is all stick and no carrots. As mentioned by someone else, President wants employees in the office three days a week but most meetings are held on Teams. CIO is outsourcing as much as he can and will continue to do so as he is incentivized to save the company money. CFO is incentivized via her bonus to say no to any new spending or budget increases and this leads to choosing the cheapest but not necessarily the best options for the company. DEI is limited to spreading awareness of differences with no real impact on hiring or promotions. DEI officer was chosen as she was the only Black management employees in HR. HR director is the worst. She has no academic degree in HR of any kind and is in the role due to loyalty to the MAGA Republican owners of the company. There are no people of color above the the Director level.
