… a Senior Back-End Engineer who will be the driving force behind our secure, reliable, and scalable application architecture. You are an expert in cloud-native development, effortlessly translating complex functional specifications into clean, efficient, and performance-optimized code, thus laying the foundation for our future growth.

Your area of responsibility is built around 5 key pillars that ensure the technical health and innovation of our platform:

• 
  Code Quality & Delivery: You develop and launch new features and bug fixes, ensuring the code is clean, efficient, secure, includes comprehensive test cases, and is optimized for serverless environments.
  
• Architecture & API Design: You design, build, and maintain robust, secure, and well-documented RESTful APIs with detailed API specifications. Furthermore, you review the technical blueprints (battle plans) of your colleagues, with a strong focus on scalability and resilience.
  
• Standards & Documentation: You define and enforce strict coding standards and best practices, prioritizing security-first development and performance optimization in a cloud environment.
  
• Team Enablement & Mentorship: You continuously share advanced technical insights to help the team grow and provide guidance on complex problems and architectural choices.
  
• Codebase Health & Support: You improve the existing codebase by refactoring it to be more performant, secure, readable, and extensible. You also provide advanced technical support for tickets that require your deep expertise

You have built up at least 5 years of experience:

• Expert-level proficiency in PHP using the Laravel framework, optimized for serverless functions.
  
In-depth expertise in Cloud-native development on platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure).

Mastery of database technologies (MySQL) and caching systems (Redis).

Solid knowledge of API Design (RESTful) and experience with Containerization & Orchestration (Docker & Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of Dutch is a nice plus

Your profile:

• Analytical & Proactive Team Player: You are a great communicator who can collaborate effectively with others while also being able to work autonomously. Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., code assistants, debugging tools) to increase efficiency while maintaining a deep, independent understanding of the underlying code is a significant plus.
• You are able to work from the office in Ghent 2 times a week

• Multi-Tenant Database Isolation: Design for enterprise scale where every B2B client runs in a fully isolated database. Tenant context is resolved dynamically per request, making cross-database queries and global state management a continuous, high-level architectural challenge.
• Async Fulfillment & Exactly-Once Delivery: Build robust polling and matching systems for third-party suppliers delivering voucher codes asynchronously. You’ll engineer strict retry and acknowledgment logic where getting it wrong means either losing codes or double-delivering them.
• High-Concurrency Voucher Generation: Build systems to fan out thousands of concurrent PDF generation jobs to an external microservice. You’ll master smart queue routing and coordinate single-settlement webhooks, optimizing throughput without rate-limiting the target service.
• Resilient, Multi-Platform Integrations: Orchestrate flawless flows across many external services (payment providers, CRM software, accountancy software, AI workflow automation software …). You’ll rely heavily on queued jobs and idempotency keys to guarantee that a failing third-party service never cascades to block the core system.
• Custom-Built E‑Commerce Engine: Build and scale a bespoke gift and vendor management system from the ground up. You’ll handle multi-dimensional pricing matrices, complex delivery logic (physical, digital, greeting cards), dynamic personalization, and strict vendor rules with zero off-the-shelf shortcuts.
