Avantages

-Great staff. My management team is extremely supportive and encouraging. Very clear with expectations, constant positive feedback, always open to help with things and never make you feel bad for asking. -More progressive business practices than other contracting companies I've been with (still a bit behind private sector I think). They are just now incorporating a DEI department. Their trainings are all very inclusive and socially aware.

Inconvénients

- I've been here for just over a year and so far no word on if ECS does annual pay increases to keep up with increased cost of living. - Merit increases capped at 2% and CFO is very stingy with the funds. - Performance review practices are so strange. Management is almost punished if their team gets all great scores. So merit increases are based on your review scores but managers are punished if they give great review scores. I had 2 performance reviews so far and in both my supervisor told me explicitly to almost ignore the score they gave (3-3.5 out of 5 for most) because they get scolded if they give all 4s and even moreso if they give 5s, but my performance aligned with scores of 4s and 5s. - Leave is on the low side. At my level (just over 1 year at ECS) I get 5 hours per pay period, for a total of about 15 total days per year, including sick. Some holidays are observed but not all. I would like to see a minimum of 20 days.

Avantages

Good work-life balance and supportive team culture. Projects feel meaningful because they support large federal programs. Flexible environment with opportunities to learn new tools like SQL and Power BI via internal platform, Pluralslight. Leadership is generally approachable and coworkers are collaborative and helpful.

Inconvénients

Salary growth can be slower than the private sector. Some processes are bureaucratic and decision-making can take time. Career progression paths are not always clearly defined, especially for analysts wanting to move into senior roles quickly.
