ABOUT THE JOB
As an Expert in Interoperability, you will play a pivotal role in developing and
implementing solutions that facilitate seamless medical data exchange and integration
across the healthcare system.

Your expertise in (semantic) interoperability standards such as HL7 Fast Healthcare
Interoperability Resources (FHIR), SNOMED CT (and other reference terminologies),
other relevant interoperability frameworks and data models (such as OMOP), … along
with a deep national understanding of medical data management will be crucial in
driving the success of our project.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE
Define and execute the interoperability strategy of EarlyTracks, aligning with

industry standards and best practices. Identify opportunities to leverage
interoperability standards and frameworks to improve data exchange and
integration ;

  • Lead the implementation of standards (and in particular ‘low level’ semantic
standards like HL7 FHIR and SNOMED CT) across EarlyTracks' solutions and
clients. Design and develop data models, profiles, and mappings to ensure
smooth interoperability between di�erent healthcare systems and applications ;
  • Collaborate with software engineers, machine learning engineers, NLP experts,
medical terminologists and data analysts to integrate various healthcare
systems, including electronic health records (EHR), laboratory information
systems, and clinical research databases ;
  • Design and implement interfaces and APIs to enable data exchange and
synchronization ;
  • Develop and maintain mappings and transformation rules to facilitate the
exchange of data between di�erent formats and terminologies. Ensure data
integrity, consistency, and accuracy during the mapping process ;
  • Stay up-to-date with healthcare regulations, privacy requirements, and security
standards related to interoperability (at the Belgian and European level). Ensure
that data exchange and integration processes adhere to these regulations and
standards ;
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of interoperability interfaces and
workflows to ensure system reliability and data integrity. ;
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, vendors, and industry organizations to
understand their interoperability needs and provide guidance on standards
adoption and implementation ;
  • Represent EarlyTracks in industry forums and contribute to interoperability
initiatives ;
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications,
implementation guides, and best practices for interoperability ;
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal teams and external
stakeholders to promote understanding and adoption of interoperability
standards.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Education in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field ;
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python ;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex interoperability

challenges. Proven track record of developing innovative solutions to overcome
data exchange and integration barriers ;

  • Excellent communication to collaborate e�ectively with cross-functional teams,
healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders. Ability to explain technical
concepts to non-technical individuals and influence decision-making ;
  • Keen interest in staying up-to-date with emerging interoperability standards,
industry trends, and technological advancements.
  • Mastering French and English

PICKLIST OF ASPECTS THAT WILL MAKE YOU EVEN MORE UNIQUE
Experience in implementing and managing interoperability initiatives in the

healthcare domain ;
  • Experience with API development, data modeling, and database management
systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) ;
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with interoperability standards and more

specifically healthcare ones like HL7 standards (CDA, FHIR), OMOP, DICOM and
terminologies (LOINC, SNOMED CT) ;

  • Familiarity with integration platforms and tools (e.g., Mirth Connect, BizTalk) ;
  • Understanding of healthcare systems, clinical workflows, and data structures.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR), laboratory information systems
(LIS), and clinical research databases is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., GDPR, EHDS, Data Act) and security

standards related to interoperability, data privacy and consent management in
healthcare settings.
