Construction Rock Star: Stephanie Morris Stephanie Morris starts each day with a strong cup of coffee (she’s partial to nut-flavored blends) to jolt herself awake before she settles into her regular workflow. By noon, she has typically handled about $2 million in contracts for National CORE’s Construction Department. Stephanie’s work as Construction Contracts Supervisor ensures that houses get built. As a member of the Texas team, Stephanie is responsible for drafting and executing all Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts, subcontractor contracts, purchase orders and change orders for every project we build. Without her, buildings wouldn’t get built and residents wouldn’t get housed, Senior Vice President of Construction Chris Killian said.

Collaborating with faith-based organizations on affordable housing developments have proven to be invaluable when earning public support, revitalizing communities and helping the most vulnerable populations, National CORE’s Chief Development Officer Alexa Washburn shared during the May 8 Building Faith in Housing workshop.
National CORE’s Santa Angelina community in Placentia will receive a prestigious Gold Nugget Award, recognizing the nonprofit’s leadership in shaping the future of affordable housing through innovative design, development and partnerships. The 2025 Gold Nugget awards will be presented by the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) and Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) at the Westin Resort of Anaheim on June 11.
City of Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval praised National CORE’s commitment to provide housing to those in need while uplifting residents through vital enrichment and support as part of the city’s celebration of Affordable Housing Month. Sandoval and the City Council issued the special proclamation on May 19, with National CORE Community Development Director Sandra Espadas accepting the honor.
