Long process of multiple steps. A lot of prep (setting up a classroom, cutting out props, printing lessons out for practice etc...) for a lot of nothing. I've seen reviews saying education is most important in getting hired but clearly after my experience, it has nothing to do with it. I do meet the Bachelor degree (in Education no less) requirement, I have had past ESL teaching experience and I would hope that in my current position as a technical writing assistant my English would be rather good. I was a full-time elementary school teacher in the past for 2nd and 5th grade. Still, not up to their standards. What are they looking for? Excellent question. So I went and looked around online for people that were hired and have made videos to show "how to interview" I think I got the answer. Be very attractive and preferably very young, set up a classroom (despite them saying you don't need to) and be animated to an extreme level. That's just my guess since that is what I saw in common with the internet videos of already hired folks. Colossal waste of time and at the end no feedback-- just nope and your account is cancelled.

Initial application with resume, 30 min video call with interviewer directly in China within a few days of sending application, followed by offer of employment via online portal. Upon acceptance, immediate opening of class schedule online.
