      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Tiffany & Co. en févr. 2013

      Entretien

I received a call from a recruiter stating that their finance department were searching to fill a position on a temporary basis. I gave the OK to be presented as a candidate and heard back the same day that the company would like to discuss my background. We scheduled a standard phone screen interview with HR for the end of that same week. The phone interview was pretty painless as long you knew your resume from top to bottom and are able to eloquently explain how you could use your strengths to perform the job duties. After the phone interview, I was informed that they are still interviewing other candidates and I will probably hear back from them in a few days after the hiring manager reviewed my resume and qualifications. The HR rep was courteous and very clear on why the position is open (additionally gave me a good briefing on the company background. We did not discuss the granular details for the position ( I assume this is because this was not the HR reps area of expertise). I heard back approximately 1 day later that they were interested in inviting me for an onsite interview and they provide you with available date slots to pick a day. I picked a date 6 days out. I was also informed that the onsite interview will be with the department heads only (no HR involved which I was fine with). On the interview day, I interviewed with a department director & senior manager. It was a pretty painless experience from my perspective, although I did not feel a good connection with the senior manager. We had a much more in depth discussion about the job duties and how my previous experience tied into their requirements. I must say I had a much much better connection with the director, we both seemed to be on the same page, and it was relatively almost like speaking with somebody you already work for. Do not embellish or lie about your experience and knowledge as they are very astute managers that are experts in the business they are in. Asking questions was also a very important part of the discussion and it gave me a better understanding of what they are looking for and I was able to tie it into my knowledge. The interviews lasted about 40 minutes with each party and I was informed that I should her back within two weeks or so (I asked and they answered). I heard back through my recruiter the following week that they had decided to go with another candidate as they felt my software knowledge was not up to par. Although I mistrust this since I know I am very adept at learning new technology and its reflected in my background. I believe it may have been the fact that I have been out of work for quite sometime but who knows. I believe its their loss on a great employee. Overall it was pretty decent experience and its the small things that prevented us from going further, so remember to go through every scenario on your resume before interviewing no matter how minute.
