I just experienced a very unprofessional and even rude process.
I applied for the ECommerce Brand Advocate Analyst on Feb 28, 2018. On April 13, I got a call from a representative of Home Depot asking me whether I was still interested in the position and I answered Yes. We made an appointment for phone interview at 10 am on April 16. It was a shame that I forgot to ask the representative to repeat her name, and I didn't have an email confirmation.
I waited for the phone call but there was none. Given the weather conditions many people might be working from home, so it was understandable. On April 17, still no phone call came in. Then the drama began.
I called the number from which I received the initial call. After a short wait the receptionist picked up the phone. I told her about my application, and then she interrupted me and said:"Which city?"
I told her it was in Toronto, she said "No Sir, you should tell me it is east, west, or south Toronto."
This was the first time I got this kind of response. I told her it was the corporate office. She just kept telling me that I was wrong and I had to let her know "which city", unless I had the name of the representative.
I was really puzzled and started looking up. However, I didn't find the answer. The job post was no longer on official website (maybe I didn't find it?), but still on LinkedIn I told her that I have the job reference number, and she said:
"Why don't you check the city before you call me back again?"
Without saying goodbye or anything else, she hanged up immediately!
So, whether this company is worth working for is clear. This is the way they treat candidates.
I waited for three days and there was still no feedback.
That's all.
