I can't remember if there was a phone portion or not because I called them to ask what the hiring timeline would be. I have always found it good practice to call a day or two after you submit an online application to A: make sure they got it and B: shows them your interested in the company and a "go getter" (even if your not). They had me schedule an interview later that week where I had to fill out more application stuff on their computers and then had two one on one interviews. First was with a "team leader" (middle management) and an Executive Team Leader (upper management). Neither felt pressured and it was fairly relaxed. I got a job offer that same day (think the same hour) and had to do a drug test. They called me later that week to schedule orientation which is a few hours or watching Target propaganda then you get a schedule and start working at the "Fast fun and friendly" Target.

It was a two-stage interview between the shift lead and one of the store managers. I was fairly nervous as it was my second job but they didn't ask anything too off the wall.

Online application was convenient and the interview process was straight forward and to the point. I was given harder than ordinary interview questions by the interview, which they disclosed afterwards, but that was because my interview was witnessed by a manager-in-training. As long as your interview does not include a manager-in-training witness, expect the interview process to be easy.

I received a phone call to set up an interview. Then, it was a one on one interview with two separate mangers in the same day. Most questions to do with why I thought I could be successful as a Target team member.
