At the time that I was hired (2005), you submitted a resume in person the Employment Center in Bloomington, IL. Now, it is all done via the website, which is a major downside, in my opinion. After I submitted the resume, I then took a computerized exam on ethics and personality as well as a typing test. A 30 word per minute minimum was required. I was then brought into an office and had a short (10 minute) interview with an HR person, who basically just asked about my work experience and what I was looking for, and what the position was about. I was called back in for a formal interview at HR again, which included an HR person and a supervisor from the CRC.

State Farm is big on asking about situations that you've had in the past. You must have an answer! I was asked about having a conflict and how I handled it. They are looking for you to describe the situation, explain how you handled it, what you learned from the experience, and what you would do in the future to improve. Spend some time thinking before the interview on various situations you've had in the past...you will need specific examples, both positive and negative.

It seems to be a very low base pay leading to sales. This was not something I am interested in for my career. I have had several interviews with state farm but very few offered benefits needed for my family.
Easy phone interview. Asked basic questions for the initial interview, was very fast and easy. Hear back in 48 hours. Was asked why I wanted the job, and how comfortable on a scale of 1-10 how comforatabke I was with sales
