I first had a face-to-face interview with their division CEO. They followed that up with a 'skills test'. That test asked the candidate to develop a database schema, the entity classes, implement about 15 different REST endpoints, complete with testing, starting from nothing, in only TWO HOURS! For extra credit, you could write a management dashboard!
This was by far the most ridiculous skills test or pre-interview assignment that I've ever seen.
BTW, the problem domain was the exact thing I worked with for the previous 2.5 years, so conceptually I could have run at full speed and still not have completed 1/10th of it. Serious danger signs here.
