There are ideally 5 stages to the recruitment process including the aptitude tests. 1. Got a phone call from Sophie Caley from Instant Impact. It was a brief call lasting around 8-10 minutes to just get to know me and my experiences 2. Followed by a Skype video interview (again with Sophie) the following day lasting around 40-45 minutes. It's quite informal and comfortable, you get asked a few competency based questions as well as get to know more about the company and the role. 3. If successful, you get asked to complete two aptitude tests - numerical and verbal reasoning. I found them to be a little difficult so make sure you brush up on your percentages and graphs particularly! 4. You then proceed to a Discovery Day which is a bit similar to an assessment day. This is done over Zoom and lasts about 3 hours. This is really your chance to really know a lot about the company, the role, the team and whether it is a fit for you. You get to meet lots of people from the Octopus team at each stage so the decision isn't solely based on just one or two people. There are a few tasks to go through but it's very laid back and informal. The people from the company are very welcoming and make it really comfortable. 5. If you pass the Discovery Day, you go on to the final stage which is a 1-to-1 interview with someone from Octopus Energy. It lasts about 30 minutes and it is just a chance for them to get to know you a little more and how well you fit the role and the team. Again, the chat is quite informal and easy going. Overall, the process, although lengthy, took a week and you are always kept informed and aware.
