The interview process was roughly three weeks with a recruiter reaching out to me, and expressing the company’s interest in me. The recruiter never stated the exact salary for the role, but according to reviews online the salary was $65k. Once the recruiter me what my salary expectations were, I expressed my range and was told my range could possibly be awarded on top of a sign on bonus since relocation is not offered with this position for out of state candidates. The interview process was an initial 40 min teams call with the recruiter, and two 45min teams calls with 2 people each interviewing me. The interviews went well, they asked a lot of behavior questions such as “tell me about a time”. After completing all three interviews, I waited a week to reach out to the recruiter regarding the company’s decision and was given a generic rejection email from the company’s website. I reached out to the recruiter and thanked him for the opportunity, and asked if he could provide feedback from the company, and he never responded. This was very unprofessional from a candidate’s standpoint because this recruiter requested my candidacy personally, and couldn’t provide an explanation as to why the company chose to move forward. I would suggest being upfront regarding the company’s salary budget so that candidates don’t lose out on opportunities due to requesting a higher salary. Companies should openly disclose their salary caps, and candidates should not waste their time doing interviews for roles that don’t meet their salary expectations
