      Entretien

I was initially contacted over the phone and asked to come in for an interview. After agreeing on a day and time, I was told that I would receive an email confirmation. No email confirmation ever came. As the day of the interview approached, I tried to get in contact with them, but to no avail. Eventually, they ended up contacting me the day of the interview. It turns out the interview was scheduled for an hour earlier than the agreed upon time. I didn't know since they never sent the confirmation, so I had to scramble to make it on time. They gave me a series of written tests covering accounting, IT, and SQL. Afterwards, I met with a senior developer for about an hour and a half. The interview was very technical and seemed to go quite well. The only red flag I picked up on (other than the issues mentioned before) was that it seems they use some older, obsolete technology and practices, which I was willing to overlook because the conversation seemed to go well. When I thought we were all done, he informs me that I also will be speaking with the head of the department for another hour. It turned out that the department head was double-booked on interviews. I was given the option of waiting for another hour before I could speak to him or coming in a few days later. I opted for the latter and informed them I would be coming in on my lunch break. Unlike before, I got email confirmation of this second interview almost immediately. Anyways, I came in for the second time to speak with the head of the department and it all went downhill from there. I came in at the scheduled time (a few minutes early, actually). He had me waiting for 30 minutes past the scheduled interview time. I was actually just about to get up and leave when he finally came down. This was not a very technical interview. He just went over my resume. Even after thoroughly explaining my experience and past personal projects, he seemed to be dubious of my work experience. This is in spite of the technical grilling I received a few days prior in which I seemed to do pretty well. He even had the audacity to inquire as to whether my current position was an actual real development position. I have no idea why he would ask this seeing as my title was listed as 'Software Developer' and I had explained many of my current projects in great technical detail (tools, frameworks, design patterns, etc.). Well, he ended up speaking to me for about an hour and a half. This, coupled with the fact that I had to wait for 30 minutes left me negligible time to ask any meaningful questions of my own. I asked if they would be in contact with me either way. He seemed caught off guard by that question and bumbled a response that they would only contact me if they decided to hire me. I said I would call them in a week or so to be sure and he said this was fine and gave me his card. Needless to say, I did not follow through with them. The lack of professionalism for the second interview was very disappointing considering how well the first interview went. It makes me seriously question the culture of this place and doubt whether I would actually ever want to work there.

Nothing really difficult. Just minute details of C#, such as the difference between "throw;" and "throw ex;".

There were two interviews. One was a general interview asking about the company and why working there. Second was a technical interview asking questions relating to how you handle logic.

Applied and had a ~30 minute phone call with the technical recruiter about a week later. She was pleasant to talk to. Talked a bit about myself and my experiences. She asked me why I chose LCS, what I knew about LCS, and told me a bit about the company and the services they provide. Got placed into a 1h interview with a senior developer, which also went well. He asked me "Tell me about yourself" so I explained how I got into the career, some of my projects/college experience and internship experience, what languages I have experience with, etc. No live coding or whiteboard style type of interviewing, although he did ask a handful of algorithms questions to see how I approached and discussed problems, such as "How would you go about reversing a string?", "How would you find out if a word is a palindrome?", "What's the difference between an inner join and a left join?", and "How would you go about counting the number of characters in a file?". We also talked about similar things that I spoke about with the technical recruiter, such as "What do you know about LCS?" and "Why LCS?" and he discussed what LCS does and what products they offer. Everything seemed to have went so well, but then over the weekend I had received an automated rejection email by their HR team on an odd, late time on a Sunday night. Part of me believed maybe it was the job posting expiring and a mass basic rejection email got sent out, but that turned out to not be the case because I sent an email to the technical recruiter the next day asking for feedback on my performance, like what they liked and perhaps didn't like about me that may have led to them choosing another candidate, thanking them for their time, etc, but I've been ghosted since and just left it at that. Very strange and I honestly feel a bit disrespected because of that. This whole process would've been rated a "Positive" experience instead of a "Neutral" if it weren't for the blunt, cold ending. Both the technical recruiter and senior developer really seemed to enjoy meeting and speaking with me, so I really don't know what the ghosting was about.

Multi-part interview with general HR followed by a "tech" interview that is really just them asking random terminology and definitions that are irrelevant to your job. Just restudy terms you haven't heard since college and you'll be prepared.
