By far the most unprofessional interview I've ever had. With 12 years of industry experience and having been recruited by their head hunter I did not expect to spend the first 30 mins of the interview discussing my high school GPA and hobbies from 15 years ago. I was also astounded to find the SVP becoming so insecure that my wife was a med student as to spend the next 15 mins discussing his 'might have beens' and phantom competition for intellectual superiority. At which point he moved on to ask several personal questions about my wife including what she looked liked and how I would describe her personally, what my children looked like, and how little time I should expect to be home if I wanted an assignment "someplace worth living in" and that a "whatever it takes" philosophy was a central part of his expectations. The notion that my career would be subject to the whims of such an unprofessional and what I considered to be unstable person gave me a clear insight into a future management career with Farmers. As a customer I've dealt with fraud, incompetence, and apathy when dealing with two agents over a span of 18 years and I think I may have discovered why this was the case. A culture built by leaders whom have no place in a professional, ethical, client centric business like financial services. Especially at a time when the industry has had it reputation so significantly marred by misconduct and unethical behavior to me it's shameful that executive leadership would have a person such as this guiding it's management teams. I declined the position and now work with a competitor.
