Virtual one on one interview , where the employer asked few questions in terms of resume and pervious experience if any. What is my understanding about the company and he role.

Had a very strange Post Interview experience and was dejected. They came to our campus for Summer Internship and conducted interviews. There was just one Interview round. It was a pretty simple interview and I believed that I answered the questions to the point. The day the Offer Letter's were rolled out I too received a mail with my Offer Letter. However, upon the college declaring the Selected students I realised my name didn't feature in that list. On communicating with my college Placement cell i was just told that Epinomi sent out my Offer Letter by mistake and they actually intended to send it to another student. The mail sent to me had my name, the pdf attached too had my name in it. I didn't find any sense in the reason given. There was no similarity between my name and the other student's name that this kind of goof up can take place. Out of the 6 students who had applied they selected all 5 of them (all candidates weren't even the best of the lot) and decided to play this kind of a messed up game with my candidature. I wasn't given any clarity of why something like this took place.
